I sent my wife some flowers recently that were very beautiful. Like all cut flowers, they eventually wilted and needed to be thrown out. As the dying stems were being transferred to a garbage bag, we noticed that a few branches used for decoration had started to bud. Hidden amongst the bright flowers, the branches looked like dead sticks, but they came to life as the flowers died.
